Home to Continental-German dishes “done right”, this “old standby” in Bellmore proffers a “meat-and-potatoes” menu and a “wide variety” of bier in “homey”, “inviting” quarters tended by “friendly people”; detractors who discern “nothing spaetzle” contend it “needs updating”, but fans of the “change of scenery” and “homemade taste” counter “who really cares?”

Charming, old stone Oak Chalet Restaurant, family owned by the Wedel Family since 1981. Bavarian restaurant with European and continental cuisine (40% German, 60% American continental). Chalet-like setting with a fireplace, wooden tables and chairs, seats approximately 100. Old world specialties include sauerbraten, wienerchnitzel, wursts, more contemporary fare includes aged steaks, chicken and seafood dishes - all homemade. Daily black board specials, on premises catering for 20-40, take out available. A full bar setting serves imported German beers, liqueurs and other imported and domestic beers, liqueurs and wines.
